The train which was named Al-bouraq connects the city of Tangier in the north of the kingdom with the city of Casablanca in the center passing through the city of Kenitra and the capital Rabat.<\/p><\/div><figure id=\"attachment_1500\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1500\" style=\"width: 631px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/theworldinstamps.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/2019-AlBouraq-Tanger-Casa.jpg?resize=631%2C433\" alt=\"Morocco 2019: Al-Bouraq High speed train \" width=\"631\" height=\"433\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1500\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Morocco 2019: Al-Bouraq High speed train<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>The train travels at a speed of 320 km \/ h between Tangier and Kenitra, crossing the 206 km that separate the two cities in 47 minutes instead of the 3:15 needed for an ordinary train. The train then runs at 160 km \/ h between Kenitra and Casablanca.<\/p><p>With this new train, Tangier is only an hour and a half from Casablanca, instead of almost 5 hours on a conventional train. The ticket on this train costs only US $ 15 to $19.<\/p><p>This line is called the \u201cAtlantic Line\u201d. Morocco plans to extend this line to eventually reach <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Marrakesh\">Marrakech<\/a> and then <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Agadir\">Agadir<\/a>. Another high-speed line will pass through Fez to connect western Morocco with the region of the Eastern Rif. Il will arrive at <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nador\">Nador<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/theworldinstamps.com\/?p=1563\">Oujda<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p><p>The Moroccan High velocity train project has cost more than 2.2 billion dollars financed up to 50% by French donations and loans and up to 20% by different Arab development funds such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfd.gov.sa\/\">Saudi<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kuwait-fund.org\/\">Kuwaiti<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adfd.ae\/ar-sa\/Pages\/Home.aspx\">Abu Dhabi<\/a> funds for development or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arabfund.org\/switchsite.aspx?sid=2\">the Arab fund for economic and social development<\/a>.<\/p><p>The Moroccan post office has issued a stamp to commemorate this inauguration.
