Algiers, has been the capital of Algeria for centuries. It is located in the northern part of the country and is known for the old-city and its traditional music. The Kasbah of Algiers is the citadel and the old city of Algiers. In 1992, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) proclaimed Kasbah of Algiers a World Cultural Heritage site.
This stamp is the third of a series of 4 stamps about costumes issued in 1971.
