Here is a set of ten Kuwait Stamps with Queen Elisabeth’s portrait. These stamps had an overprint on British stamps issued from 1952 to 1954. The overprint on the Kuwaiti stamps was composed of the label “Kuwait” and the new value in indian currency.
When the stamps were issued, Kuwait was under British protectorate. The ruler of the country was Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem. He was the eleventh ruler of the Sheikhdom of Kuwait and commander-in-chief of Kuwait Military Forces from 29 January 1950 to his death in 1965; he became the first Emir of the State of Kuwait after the country gained its independence from Great Britain on 19 June 1961.
Queen Elisabeth II (1926 -2022) accessed to the British throne on the 6th of February 1952.
